The police have arrested four members of a six-man gang that camouflaged as policemen to rob bus passengers in Enugu on Christmas Eve.
The gang dressed in fake police uniform and mounted a road block along Ninth Mile /Nsukka Expressway.
They reportedly stopped two commercial vehicles coming from Lagos which they diverted into the bus.
The gang was in the process of robbing the passengers when real policemen swooped on them, leading to a shoot out.
In the process, Kenneth Eze, Ojobo Ude, Emeka Eze and Sunday Ugwu were arrested, while two others escaped.
The Punch quoted the Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu as saying that three locally – made guns were recovered from the suspects, as well as nine mobile telephone sets believed to have been stolen from their owners.
The police are also on the trail of the two other suspects and have pleaded for information that can lead to their arrest.
