Mallam Muhammadu Sanusi II who was dethroned by the governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, over offences described as disrespect to the office of the governor and other government agencies, was banished to Loko town in Nasarawa State.
Announcing the dethronement of the first-class monarch, the secretary to the state government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji said the removal was with immediate effect.

However, The Herald gathered that shortly after his arrival at Loko, a town in Nasarawa state, the dethroned emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi has reportedly left his residence for another town due to lack of social amenities in the town.
Correspondence of The Herald also gathered that he was airlifted in a helicopter to another town, Awe, also in Nasarawa state. Although there has not been any official report on why he relocated to Awe.

Before Sanusi was taken away to the state, he was said to have been put under house arrest by the heavy security personnel of DSS, Police and Military.
