Honourable Ikunyi Awaji-Ibani, the speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, has stepped down from the position.
Announcing his decision to vacate his seat, a decision he said was done willingly, Awaji-Ibani noted that it was time for him to move to other things.
However, he did not give reasons for stepping down, but said it was for reasons best known to him.
He said: “In life there is time for everything. I was called to serve and I think I have served you well. At this juncture, I want to announce that I am stepping aside”.
He has since been replaced by Hon. Adams Dabotorudima, who represents Okrika constituency.
The change of gear in the leadership of the House comes just after it passed the state’s budget estimated at N307 billion.
