The Nigeria Police Command in Rivers State has confirmed the neutralization of an unspecified number of suspected vandals attempting to bomb a pipeline in the Rumuekpe Aluu community. According to Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju, the suspects died on the spot during the joint security operation on March 16.
Adepoju revealed that the successful operation was part of the ongoing joint effort with other security agencies to safeguard Rivers. The police also thwarted another potential bomb attack by criminals in Onelga Local Government Area on March 19, arresting two suspects with four dynamites.
In addition to the arrests, the police detonated explosive devices and other Improvised Explosive Device (IED) components. The operation is a significant step in disrupting pipeline vandalism and ensuring the safety of critical infrastructure in Rivers State.
