Rivers Govt. donates patrol vehicles to FRSC

2 Min Read

Gov. Nyeson Wike of Rivers has donated two patrol vehicles to the state Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

According to a statement by Mr Bisi Kazeem, Head, Media Relations and Strategy, FRSC, the gesture is in line with the partnership with the leadership of the FRSC.

Wike commended the staff of the sector command for their immense contributions to the socio-economic development of the state, especially in the area of effective traffic management and security.

He assured that his government would continue to partner with the corps to quicken its development programmes.

According to him, road safety is a shared responsibility, and every responsible government must show sincere commitment to the safety and security of its people.

He expresse determination to rid the state of fake driver’s licence and number plates through a task force that would soon be set up by the state government.

Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, the Corps Marshal, FRSC, thanked the governor for the gesture

He said FRSC alone could not address the challenges of road safety without support from relevant stakeholders.

He commended the governor for his interest in matters of road safety and assured him that the vehicles would immediately be deployed for operational activities in the state.

Oyeyemi said in spite of efforts of the Federal Government to provide logistics support for FRSC, it would continue to rely on the support and partnership of other stakeholders to realise the goals of making the nation’s roads safer.

He said as part of the corps’ commitment to the success of the partnership initiatives, FRSC was willing to train the personnel of the state traffic management agency.

This, he said, was to prepare them adequately to complement the efforts of the corps in traffic management, particularly in the urban areas.(NAN)
