Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has advised manager Ruben Amorim to prioritize signing an experienced striker over Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel. Ferdinand believes that while Tel is a talented player, Manchester United’s current needs would be better met by a seasoned goalscorer.
“Mathys Tel, French kid, he is a mad talent,” Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel. “I have seen him close up, come on in a game in the Champions League for Bayern Munich and score a goal, a really good finish.”
However, Ferdinand emphasized that Manchester United requires a more experienced presence up front, citing the struggles of current strikers Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund. He also noted that Marcus Rashford remains absent from the team.
Ferdinand suggested that signing another young striker like Tel might hinder the development of existing young players, such as Chido Obi Martin, who was recently acquired from Arsenal.
