Global music icon Rihanna has broken her silence after her partner, A$AP Rocky, was found not guilty of assault with a semiautomatic firearm by a Los Angeles jury.
The rapper, born Rakim Mayers, had been facing two felony counts of assault stemming from a 2021 altercation with his former childhood friend, Terell Ephron (A$AP Relli). If convicted, he could have been sentenced to up to 24 years in prison.
Rihanna was visibly emotional, breaking down in tears as the verdict was read in court on Tuesday. Rocky immediately jumped into the gallery to hug his family, including Rihanna, and later embraced his lawyer, Joe Tacopina.
Celebrating the verdict, Rihanna took to Instagram, writing:
“The glory belongs to God and God alone! Thankful, humbled by His mercy.”
The case had drawn significant public attention, with fans and legal analysts closely following the trial. With Rocky now cleared of all charges, the couple can finally move forward from the legal battle.
