Chad, who are Nigeria’s Group G opponents in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, have sacked their French coach Emmanuel Tregoat and replaced him with former Cameroon defender Rigobert Song.
Sitting bottom of the group behind Egypt, Nigeria and Tanzania, the Football Federation in Chad gave Tregoat the boot and replaced him with the 39 year old former Liverpool defender.
Song, who has a record 137 caps for Cameroon making his début in 1993 will now be in full charge of the ‘Les Sao’ when the qualifiers resume in March next year.
Chad will resume 2017 AFCON qualifying hostilities when they travel to Dar Es Salaam to play Tanzania.
Song has won two Africa Cup of Nations titles with Cameroun in 2000 and 2002 while appearing in eight editions of the tournament between 1996-2010.
He is famous for being sent off in successive FIFA World Cup tournaments ( 1994, 1998) appearing in four World Cups for Cameroun.
Song retired in 2011 and went into punditry before his latest adventure in Chad.
