Even as many Nigerians are groaning and witnessing that president Muhamadu Buhari has reneged on the election promises he made them, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, former Abia State governor says his testimony is different.
According to Kalu, who just decamped from the PPA, a party he formed, to the ruling APC saysBuhari has fulfilled his promises to him. Kalu made this known in a statement on his Facebook page, where he explained why he joined APC.
According to the rich politician,
“As an Igbo man who has seen it all , trained in business by the Hausa Fulani and started business in the South West, I sincerely believe it is better for the Igbos to sit where other Nigerians are sitting”
“I recall that on complaining of how the bad roads in the East has been a great source of worry for me and our people, president Buhari personally promised me that all contractors are fully back to the many abandoned Federal roads in Eastern Nigeria”
However, Kalu’s statement may have betrayed his willingness to work with the Buhari administration which is largely unpopular in the South East.
No sooner had he defected than rumours of plans to give him a major role in the regime to make in-roads into the South East ahead of 2019 emerged in the media. There was even an article in a prominent newspaper, hinting that Buhari’s agents may be looking at replacing Osibanjo, a Tinubu loyalist, with kalu as vice presidential candidate in 2019.
