RHJCP: FG Renames N-Power Program As Payment Begins

President Bola Tinubu’s administration has announced the rebranding of the N-Power program, renaming it the ‘Renewed Hope Job Creation Programme’ (RHJCP).

The move aims to revitalise the popular initiative, aligning it with the renewed vision of the government.

The announcement, made on Monday, signals a renewed commitment to the program, which has been instrumental in empowering Nigerian youths by providing training and job opportunities.

This renaming comes with the promise of addressing past challenges and enhancing the program’s efficiency.

The Herald reports that Akindele Egbuwalo, the National Programme Manager of N-Power, revealed that the eight-month backlog in payments to beneficiaries will commence in November.

Egbuwalo emphasised that payments will be made in instalments, ensuring that beneficiaries receive their dues.

An official statement by Jamaluddeen Kabir, the National Communication Manager of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), confirmed that Egbuwalo shared these updates during a meeting with N-Power beneficiaries.

The statement also highlighted the recovery of funds from existing payment service providers by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

Egbuwalo said, “The good news is that the funds have been recovered, and you will be getting your money soon. Payment for N-Power Beneficiaries Batch C, who have been owed for eight months, will begin soon.

“These irregularities have made the common man lose faith in the ability of the government to provide social safety cover for its population.”

He further emphasised that various irregularities that had hindered the program’s smooth implementation were being addressed.

On taking office, it was noted that many beneficiaries did not receive payment for their monthly allowances, and funds were held up by a consultant whose contract had long expired.
