Eminem’s ninth studio album has arrived.
The follow-up to 2013’s Marshall Mathers LP 2 features his previously shared Beyoncé-collaboration “Walk on Water” and “Untouchable.” Other contributors include Alicia Keys, X Ambassadors, Skylar Grey, Kehlani, Pink, and Phresher. Ed Sheeran– who credits the 45-year-old as his reason for becoming a songwriter. He recently sat down with Elton John to discuss the new album and his Trump freestyle. Eminem was the musical guest on last month’s Chance the Rapper-hosted episode of “SNL.”
And while the leaked version gained criticisms, it seems fans listening after the official release have more positive things to say. The album touches on several genres throughout its 19 tracks, with a bit of hip-hop, gospel, pop, and of course there is a fair dose of political commentary following his Donald Trump takedown. His ninth studio album seems to build in momentum as it goes along, saving the most poignant ’til last as he raps about almost dying from a drug overdose in Arose. Eminem’s lyrics are typical Slim Shady; rapid, clever, with Offended proving to be a wordy masterpiece.
