CJN Walter Onnoghen

The new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed, has 32 children, a former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has claimed.

Omokri, a US-based former Special Assistant to President Jonathan on New Media, made this known on Saturday while reacting to the suspension of Walter Onnoghen as CJN and his replacement by Bauchi state indigene, Mohammed.

The ex-presidential aide condemned Mohammed’s appointment and demanded the reinstatement of Onnoghen.

Taking to his verified Twitter handle, Omokri said, “Let me shock Nigerians. Justice Tanko, who President Muhammadu Buhari, the so called anti corruption advocate, swore in, has 32 kids and a reputation I won’t even bother stating here. How has Tanko been feeding and caring for his 32 children on a judge’s salary? It is a MIRACLE!”

Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, has condemned the suspension of Onnoghen as CJN and called for his reinstatement.

According to Moghalu, “President Muhammadu Buhari set aside the constitution by “suspending” the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen.

“This action is a serious threat to Nigeria’s democracy and a gross violation of the rule of law, which must not stand.

“The purported suspension of the CJN is a dangerous culmination of President Buhari’s contempt for the rule of law, which includes disobeying court orders.

“To preserve the country’s democracy, President Buhari needs to reinstate Justice Onnoghen back to office without delay and allow the due process of the law in handling whatever legal infractions the CJN may have committed.”
