The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has disclosed that it is not in possession of the controversial BMW car documents fueling fire to the claim that the minister, NCAA and Coascharis never actually imported any vehicles.
The NCAA made the revelation in response to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request application made by legal luminary, Femi Falana (SAN).
Falana had asked for a copy of the documents pertaining to the transaction and any other documents related to similar past transactions.
In its response, the NCAA’s legal adviser, E.K Chukwuma said it was not in possession of any such documents.
“I am directed to your letter dated 21st October 2013 on the above matter (Request for information on N255m armoured cars for Aviation Minister, Ms Stella Oduah) and to inform you that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority is not in possession of any document relating to the purchase of armoured cars for the Aviation Minister, Ms Stella Oduah,” the agency was quoted as saying.
“With regard to your request for records of previous purchase of armoured cars by the Aviation Ministry or NCAA, I am to inform you that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority does not have such records.”
Aviation minister, Stella Oduah is expected to appear before the House of Representatives panel of inquiry tomorrow after she returns from Israel.
