Revealed: Drake Once Wrote Songs for Dr Dre

2 Min Read

Did you know that Drake used to work for Dr. Dre as a songwriter? This has been confirmed to be true. In writer John Seabrook’s new book titled “The Song Machine: Inside The Hit Factory,” Drizzy recalled being 19 years old when he and longtime producer Noah “40” Shebib moved to California to write for Dr Dre and his record label Aftermath.

Drake said it was one of the hardest things he ever had to do as an artist, and when all was said and done none of the songs were even used.

“It was some of the most strenuous militant s— I’ve ever done,” he was quoted as saying. “But no useable songs came out of it. When I think of how he worked us, it’s no wonder he didn’t get anything out of it. It was just writers in a room churning out product all day long.”

The book also states Noah and Drizzy were paid $10,000 for their work, and if their songs were used they would have ended up on the “Detox” album.

As far as Drake writing for Dr. Dre as a teenager, it’s further proof that he does pen his own songs and doesn’t require a ghost-writer as Meek Mill claimed.
