The National body of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked its old members to return to the party.
The calls came after new defections by former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Barnabas Gemade again from the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The party entreated former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue, and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki to return to the party from the PDP which they decamped before the 2019 general elections.

Speaking through its deputy national publicity secretary, Yekini Nabena, the ruling party said it was ready to accept the politicians back if they followed the examples of their colleagues.
“We assure all true progressives who left the party over whatever grievance to return and join ongoing efforts to reposition the APC and further achieve our pro-people plans for the country,” the APC said in a statement.
The party witnessed a flood of defection from its ranks towards the 2019 general elections. The party lost many states in the governorship elections despite clinching the presidency. Many more states were lost after the elections due to court orders and injunctions.
