Some retired Nigerian military officers have vowed against embarking on any form of protest over deductions made from their pensions.
The was made known by the president of the National Association of Ex-service pensioners Prince Zubair in Abuja
Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, July 12, Zubair said the decision not to protest follows a concession reached between the Nigerian government and the association.
“It is based on the outcome of the recent dialogue and the concessions made that the leadership of our association reasoned that any form of protest is not logical for now
“Fortunately, part of government’s concession to us is the implementation of the 20.37% which was illegally deducted from the original 53.37%.
“The government has also promised to look into the possibility of paying the remaining six quarters of the 33 percent arrears in two installments to pave way for the next salary review which is already overdue,” he said.
