Remi Tinubu Shades Saraki

3 Min Read
Senator, Oluremi Shade Tinubu

The senator representing Lagos Central senatorial district in the National Assembly, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu has shaded the Senate leadership under Dr Bukola Saraki, accusing it of frustrating President Muhammadu Buhari’s plans for the nation.

Tinubu, wife of National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, disclosed this in an interview published by Vanguard on Monday.

According to the senator, the APC administration led by Buhari could have achieved more if the Senate had the “right leadership”.

Tinubu, who did not mention names, said, “For the leadership (issue) in the Senate I experienced it and I believe the president also learnt from what happened. We don’t have to say that we are preventing it, because most of the work he could have done, if we had the right leadership we wouldn’t have been going through what we are going through today.

“So, I believe that the president would have learnt one thing or two because when he came in, he said he doesn’t belong to anybody, but I know that by this time, he knows those people who belong to him. He will know that some people have his best interest at heart and some don’t!

Tinubu noted that not much could be done about the strained relationship between the leadership of the executive and the leadership, saying any moves to resolve the crisis could lead to “blackmail”.

She urged Nigerians to keep faith with the APC and ignore the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which, she said, got Nigeria into the mess that the APC is trying to rescue the nation from.

The senator added, “I don’t think much can be done (to smoothen the relationship) now. It will lead to blackmail. For me, we are going to run and walk with what we have and I don’t think a PDP administration has much to offer us. They are the ones who got us into this rot in the first place and we are trying to get out of it.”
