Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Rema made headlines at Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Spring-Summer Show during Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday, but his song “Calm Down” was also making waves at the 2024 ASCAP London Music Awards. The hit track took home the coveted Song of the Year and Top Streaming Song awards, with co-writers and co-producers Michael Hunter (aka London) and Andre Vibez also receiving credits.

This achievement marks Rema’s third ASCAP award, the most won by any Nigerian or African artist. He has also been recognized as the most awarded African artist of 2024, with a total of six awards including one Trends Award in Brazil, one iHeartRadio Music award, one ASCAP Pop Music award, and two ASCAP London Music awards.

“Calm Down” has made history as the first Afrobeats song to surpass 1 billion on-demand streams in the US. Rema’s success continues to break boundaries and cement his position as a leading force in the music industry.
