Redeemers University student kills father over ‘prayer points’

2 Min Read

Tolani Ajayi, a 21 year old 300 level student of Redeemers University has killed his 60 year old father, Mr. Charles Ajayi (SAN) over a dispute about prayer points.

The incident occured on Canaanland Street at Redeemed Christian Church of God camp at the family’s residence.

Muyiwa Adejobi, a Police source said the deceased was stabbed with a knife and then later chopped with a cutlass, stuffed in a box and dragged into the bush.

He said, “The policemen who noticed the ground mark created by the box as Tolani dragged it, followed this lead which led them to the strange discovery.”

“They traced the ground marks made by the box to the point where the body of the SAN was dumped and thereafter traced the mark to the house of the deceased.

“When the police got to deceased’s house, the suspect was in a relaxed mood.

“When interrogated, the suspect earlier lied that his dad had gone on evangelism, but he eventually confessed to the crime when he was taken to the Redemption Camp Divisional headquarters.”

Tolani confessed to killing his father, saying he was accosted by his father for not responding to all the prayer points raised by the deceased.

Angered by the slap, he went into a state of madness, ran into the kitchen, took a knife and killed the father.

He later used a cutlass to chop the body for easy disposal in a box.

After dumping the body, the suspect went back to the home to  watch television.
