Red Cross to Construct Emergency Response Medical Center in Kano

The Nigerian Red Cross Society, Kano Branch said it had concluded arrangement to construct an Emergency Rapid Response Medical Centre at Garunmalam Local Government Area of Kano state.

The President of the National Red Cross Society, Chief Bolaji Anani, disclosed this on Tuesday in Kano at the ground breaking ceremony of the Emergency Medical Centre.

NAN reports that Anani was represented at the occasion by the National Treasurer, Prince Oluyemisi Adetayo.

He said the project which would cost over N40 million, when completed, would assist victims of road accident along the ever busy Kano-Zaria road.
“Donations were sourced from individuals and Corporate organisations for this project by our our Red Cross ambassadors especially the former Minister of Mr Remi Babalola and a business guru, Alhaji Aliko Dangote

“Kano-Zaria road is one of the busiest in the country and it is prone to accident. We will now be able to assist victims, stabilize them and give them better care and other neighbouring communities in Kura and Bebeji Local governments will benefit from the facility.

“The clinic will have consultation rooms, female and male wards, pharmacy, laboratory, theatre staff quarters,”he said.

According to him, the entire project would cost a little over N40 million while the equipment was projected at N25 million.

In his remarks, the Governor of Kano State ,Dr Abdullahi Ganduje who was represented by the Commissioner of Health, Dr Kabiru Getso, commended the organisation for initiating the project.

He said the laudable project would go along way in providing immediate medical attention to victims of road traffic accidents and further complement government’s efforts in the provision of quality health care services to the teeming populace in the state.

He commended the Nigerian Red Cross Society for its support in the prevention and management of emergencies and disaster in the State.(NAN)
