Recruitments: FCC expresses satisfaction over compliance with Federal Character principles

4 Min Read

Federal Character Commission (FCC) has expressed satisfaction with the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force and Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) for compliying with the Federal Character Principles in the ongoing recruitment processes.

The Acting FCC Executive Chairman, Dr. Shettima Abba, made this known on Thursday during the monitoring tour at the North-West screening camp of the three organisations in Kaduna.

According to him, every applicant who met the requirements, has been given equal opportunity to participate in the screening process.

He commended the agencies for organising a hitch-free exercise in a peaceful, secured and orderly manner with no casualties.

”It is a very well conducted exercise; we came to determine and see what is happening and we have seen the concluding aspects of it.

”We were also assured that everybody has been given equal chance to participate and those of them who are qualified, who are physically fit will be finally selected and will be sent on training.

“That has shown that the exercise is perfect and is Federal Character compliant.

“We met with the various agencies and we have thrown up a template and with what have seen in all the states, I will say without fear of any contradiction, that everything has been perfectly adhered to.

“We are highly satisfied; all the 37 commissioners are in the field now and am also going round to ensure that the concluding aspect of the exercise is perfectly done and am satisfied.”

Abba said that the main objective of the exercise was to ensure equity, fairness and no form of gender discrimination after the final exercise of shortlisting the candidates.

“With what I have seen, every participant is being attended to and can be gainfully employed.

“The only thing that can disqualify them is their character, certificates or fitness, otherwise they all have the same opportunity.

“We will go through the shortlisted candidates and their results to ensure that it was fairly done; to ensure that there is no candidate who has performed well and was left out.

“After that, we will issue a certificate of compliance and then we will ask them to start issuing appointment letters,” Abba said.

The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that at the North-West Zone, Police College, Kaduna, EFCC had over 2,000 participants for the three cadres, Police had over 15,000 participants while Army had 363 candidates in each state.

EFCC has scheduled June 26 for the final aptitude test for candidates who were successful at the screening, which is the final phase of the exercise.

Earlier, Brig-Gen. Auwal Fagge, the Team Leader, 75 recruitment exercise, North-West Zone 2, said that the exercise had been smooth and devoid of casualties.

He said that after the final stage this weekend, the shortlisted candidates would proceed to Zaria for proper training. (NAN)
