Reality check for Leicester, another big win for Liverpool

2 Min Read

Liverpool started GameWeek-19 10 points clear of second placed Leicester City but ended the night with 13 points and a game in hand the difference between the sides.

Roberto Firmino gave the league leaders the lead at half time in what was an unfair reflection of a first half the reds totally dominated. But in the second half, they shifted gears and powered through the foxes like whirlwind with three more goals to out the game beyond the definition of a contest.

Soyuncu handled the ball in his own 18 yard and substitute James Milner made it two for Liverpool from the penalty spot. Firmino added his second of the night three minutes later and Trent Alexander Arnold finished off a well deserved goal on the 78th minute to make it four for the visitors.

It was a harsh reality check for the foxes whose position had been questionable and were probably enjoying such lofty heights due to the lackluster performances by the traditional members of the big six so far this season. With Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham out of sorts we have a tale of the mouse becoming master of the house in the absence of the cat.

Despite the flashlights and pyrotechnics designed to garner support for the home side, Liverpool dominated from the blast of the kick-off whistle and could have scored two within the first minute had Alexander Arnold and Sadio Mane had shown cooler heads.

The reds dominance was so immense Leicester were pressed out of form, caught out of space, dragged out of shape, and schooled for pace almost the entire match. The home’s side only spell of the game harshly gave Liverpool a second goal.
