After a rumour circulated that the top hierarchy at Real Madrid, including president Florentino Perez, were ready to cough out 190 million euros to trigger the buy-out clause of Barcelona forward Neymar, many fans of the club have rejected the alleged move.
According to an online survey conducted by respected Spanish sport paper, MARCA, 52 percent of the club’s fans expressed dissatisfaction with the move and advised the club against it, compared to 48 percent who said they were in support.
A report on Spanish radio station Onda Cero had claimed that Real Madrid’s representatives met the player’s father in Zurich, Switzerland during the FIFA Ballon D’Or ceremony in what was believed to be a plot to secure the player’s services.
However, no official cub statement has denied or confirmed the reports.
A move for Neymar is believed to signal the imminent exit of one of the club’s top three forwards, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema or Gareth Bale.
