Real Madrid Coach to be Sacked on Monday, Replaced by Conte- Report

2 Min Read

Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui might just have coached his last game for the Los Blancos as it seems inevitable that he will be sacked.

Real Madrid suffered their third successive loss of the season in a humbling defeat to Barcelona

They were roundly beaten 5-1 by the Catalan club and this has surely spelt the end for the Spanish coach.

According to Goal.com, he is set to be sacked today and be replaced by former Chelsea coach Antonio Conte who left the Chelsea job this summer.

The defeat sees Real Madrid in 9th place, 7 points behind leaders Barcelona.

“We have to take a decision. We can’t continue like this for more time,” said a Real Madrid source to Goal.com

Lopetegui had to face reporters after the game and he said:  “I feel sad at the moment, but with full strength to remain in charge of this group.

“This is a tough blow, but I am strong enough to know everything can be turned around. There is a long way to go, and I have a lot of faith in this group of players.”

Meanwhile, club captain Sergio Ramos has said that the players are backing Lopetegui and have no input about where he stays or goes.

“We are with the coach to the death. But results determine a lot whether a coach stays.” he said

“It is not our decision. So we will stay to the side, let the hours pass and whatever happens will happen. It’s not about the players.”

Antonio Conte led Chelsea to the Premier League title in his maiden season and while his second season was well below standard, he still managed to clinch the FA cup for the blues.

He is likely going to be the man to lead Real Madrid moving forward for this season.
