Former Kano Governor, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso will officially declare his 2019 presidential ambition on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday.

His campaign office made this known in a statement on Sunday.

In the statement, Kwankwaso, who is the senator representing Kano Central senatorial district in the National Assembly, harped on the need to beef up the nation’s infrastructure to achieve development.

He described infrastructural deficit as the bane of economic development of the country and promised to address the deficit if elected.

In the statement, Kwankwaso was also quoted as lamenting the country’s overdependence on foreign loans with its attendant burden.
“it is imperative for us to embark on massive infrastructural turnaround across the country with judicious management of the nation’s resources without necessarily mortgaging the future of the country on excessive foreign loans and its attendant burden,” the ex-governor said.

Kwankwaso also vowed to end insecurity and return the nation to the path of development if elected.

Kwankwaso was governor of Kano for two non-consecutive terms on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC) towards the tail end of his second term.

He was elected to the senate on the platform of the APC in 2015.

However, the senator announced his return to the Peoples Democratic Party in July.
