US Republican presidential hopeful, Donald Trump, is the frontline candidate to win his party’s ticket to contest for the presidential race, having won his second of three state primaries in South Carolina on Saturday.
He had earlier won in New Hampshire and placed second in Iowa.
After his victory in the South Carolina primaries, an elated Trump said in an interview with the CNN that he could see himself picking his party’s ticket before the National Convention in July, and would face Democrat, Hillary Clinton in the presidential election.
However, when asked if he could count on the support of African-Americans in the run up to the election, he predicted he would get “tremendous” support from them.
“I’m going to do great with the African-Americans. African-American youth is 58% unemployed. African-Americans in their prime are substantially worse off than the whites in their prime, and it’s a very sad situation,” he said.
