Many have come out to pay their respects including both Arsenal and Chelsea, but it was a man with whom he played with for a number of years, Didier Drogba that he got such a heartwarming speech.

“Thank you my hero Petr Cech for having golden hands and heart. Man saved three penalties and run into me like I’m a legend.

“What a career you’re gonna end in few months. Love to the family.”

Cech’s former manager, Jose Mourinho, also had nice things to say about the goalkeeper, saying that he was proud that he was able to give the then unknown keeper his Premier League debut.

“I am honoured to have been the manager that, at such an early age, gave Petr a top Premier League number one shirt,”  Mourinho said to Sky Sports.

“After that day, it is all about him. All about his numbers, his performances, his clean sheets, his titles and his professionalism.

“It’s a big loss for football but history can’t be deleted. Many congratulations on such an amazing career.”

Cech holds the record for the most Premier League clean sheets and will be hoping that he can at least win one more trophy with Arsenal before finally saying goodbye to the beautiful game.
