Cristiano Ronaldo was officially unveiled as a Juventus player at a glamorous event in Turin on Monday afternoon.
The 33-year-old star’s $117 million signingΒ by the Serie A champions from Real Madrid sent shock waves across the footballing world.

Speaking to the media at the official unveiling, Ronaldo said he could have made a big-money move to China or Qatar like other big stars of his age but decided against it.
The five-time FIFA Ballon D’Or winner said that by signing for Juventus he wanted to show himself to be “different” from the others.

He said,Β βIβm different from other players who think their careers are over when theyβre my age.
βI want to show that Iβm not like the others, Iβm different.
βPlayers of my age go to China or Qatar so coming to such an important club at this stage in my career makes me very happy.β

The Portugal captain said he would help the club to push for the UEFA Champions League title, which they last won in 1996.
He also said he would help Juventus maintain success in the domestic titles they have dominated in for a while.
βWeβre going to fight for not just Champions League, but also Serie A and the others trophies,β he said.
βI need to work hard because the Champions League is not easily won. I hope I can help.β
Cristiano RonaldoΒ signed a four-year deal worth a reported 30 million euros a season.
