A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council, Mr Akin Osuntokun, on Wednesday said that he could only wish Nigeria well following the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had early on Wednesday announced President Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the Feb. 23 Presidential election.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu, while announcing the results in Abuja, said that Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), polled 15,191,847 votes to defeat Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 11,255,978 votes.
Osuntokun reacting to the result in a telephone interview told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that he had no comments but to wish the country well.
“I have no comments but to wish the country the best of luck. That is all I can say, I wish the country well,” he said.
Osuntokun, who served as the Political Adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, also declined to comment on Atiku’s decision to challenge the results in court. (NAN)
