RCCG, Adeboye & Daddy Freeze: Tithe is NOT a scam

8 Min Read

The fierce and relentless snoring of Daddy Freeze against tithes in Churches has not deterred Pastor Adeboye of RCCG – to cower on the subject.

The name-calling, shaming, displeasure and defamations of Daddy Freeze against RCCG have not made them alter their doctrine or beliefs about tithing.

The courage of the Church – holding firm and staying strong, in spite of criticisms coming at them, online and offline, shows they must know something or really believe what they believe.

They probably have been able to examine Daddy Freeze and his nebulous attacks, to understand why it is against them and the substance of what he says – and does.

Daddy Freeze is really weak. Though he seems strong to his supporters and many believe him. There is no core to anything about him and he has yet to – originally – challenge any conventional wisdom. Everything he says he steals from somewhere, and with all his deceit he’s still unable to provide any balanced or two-way views. He often coughs a ton of nonsense.

He’s – usually – rambling, confusing, desperate for attention, picks on anything and frenetically bitter. He was not ‘known’ to be a member of RCCG in the past, and his hate for that Church is mysterious.

He did not design his mission to engage Pastors for answers. There are many Star Pastors of RCCG that would have granted him interviews, to debate him on – his – air, assuming it was strictly on the Scriptures and strictly as ready to learn – or ready to think, not subterfuge.

But Daddy Freeze declared war on RCCG, hurls everything bad at them and their Pastor, and cannot pretend to be reasonable.

Old Testament or not, law or not, the tithe is a form of giving and giving is a form of goodness. Goodness is a Fruit of the Spirit.

Tithe could also be a way to submit to GOD, or of sowing bountifully. It could be a way to – in contemporary times – make resources available in the Church.

Yes, Christians are not under the law, as most of what was done in the Old Testament became inapplicable after Christ, but tithes – as an angle of giving – is not wrong; if you believe.

Acts 4:34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them and brought the prices of the things that were sold,

Acts 4:35 And laid [them] down at the apostles’ feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

Acts 4:36 Joseph, a Levite and a Cypriot by birth, whom the apostles named Barnabas, which is translated Son of Encouragement,

Acts 4:37 sold a field he owned, brought the money, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

The giving here through the Apostles for people in need was understandable as welfare, especially for those that were believers.

Acts 4:32 Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of his possessions was his own, but instead, they held everything in common.

Acts 4:33 And with great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was on all of them.

Some gave, others had needs. The same giving model – though not mentioned – would ‘have worked’ for the needs of building and maintenance of those early Churches. And it was this giving model to those who listened and stayed with Him until late, that made Jesus feed five thousand.

The giving to those in need and the feeding was not a development project to eradicate poverty. Neither was it a situation that seems like present-day Nigeria or the present world.

Churches have welfare departments, but it ‘will’ be crap thinking to believe the Church is absolutely responsible for every person in need – to perennially cater for and uplift from poverty.

Tithing or any giving in Church is voluntary. Even though it wasn’t stated – like that – in the Scriptures, when it said GOD loves a cheerful giver, means that a person is happily doing it – and freewill. It also talked about sowing bountifully – which can be generous, freewill giving.

In fact, it was giving, being freewill that the couples did not see as freewill and intended to be part of the process as if forced that got Peter disappointed in the subsequent Chapter of Acts 4. It was not by force and the Apostles were not running a scam.

Giving tithes does not cancel giving to the poor, directly or through the Church. Christ also encouraged it; stating that WHEN – expectation to give, which is voluntary or freewill.

Matthew 6:2 Therefore when thou doest [thine] alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have the glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Matthew 6:4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

So sincere giving is full of instructions. There are methods and purposes for giving. It is erroneous to call tithes a scam if it follows the instructions and expectation of giving in the Scriptures.

It is very hard to give, understanding the purpose – with all the necessary knowledge – and call it a scam.

Internet ‘fraud’ is a scam. Government ‘corruption’ is a scam. ‘Fake’ products and services are scams, but tithing is NOT a scam.

Tithing in RCCG is not a scam by their Pastor. The guidelines of the doctrine were not developed by the man, and it is an aspect of Faith and Hope for those who give.

Some people pray in Faith – and Hope, for an answer. Some also give as a part of Faith, and to Hope.

Nigeria is sorely underdeveloped. There is not enough electricity. There are few major-massive projects, moving and shaking sectors that all can see and hope.

The Church or true Churches everywhere are mostly for Faith and Hope. Churches are NOT business centres and are not for national development, or government policy or models.
