Rangers International FC, on Saturday, intensified training ahead of encounter with its historic arch-rival, 3SC of Ibadan, in a week-15 match in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) 2015/2016 season.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the epic football encounter between the two teams in Nigeria would take place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Sunday at 4 p.m.
Rangers’ Director of Media and Publicity, Foster Chime, told NAN in Enugu that the league leaders, Rangers would use the encounter to rekindle the hope of widening their leadership position in the professional league.
“The training sessions today witnessed a full house of Rangers players and technical crew in preparation for Sunday’s league game against 3SC of Ibadan.
“The players have regretted the 3-1 loss against Rivers United but vowed to put it behind them.
“We are now focusing on unleashing our arsenal against 3SC to reassure our teeming fans on our focus on the league title, while also consolidating our leadership of the league.
“The team is already looking forward to claiming the maximum three points at stake as well as increasing the team’s goal tally at the end of the game,’’ he said.
The media manager also confirmed efforts of the state government toward improving the players and official’s welfare with regards to clearing arrears of allowances as well as other entitlements.
NAN recalls that Rangers is currently placed first in the league table with 27 points and goal difference of plus six from 14 games closely followed by Kano Pillars with 24 points and plus eight goal difference from similar number of matches.
Rangers’ hope of Sunday’s victory will definitely consolidate their leadership of the league and widening the gap with five points clear from second placed Kano Pillars. (NAN)
