Rangers FC’s players, officials receive governor’s N41.5m largesse — Official

2 Min Read

Foster Chime, Rangers Media Director, has confirmed that players and officials of the club have received Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s largesse for emerging the champion of 2015/2016 Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ugwuanyi had at a reception for the club organised by the Enugu State Government presented a cheque of N41.5 million to the NPFL champions.

The NPFL trophy qualifies the club to represent the country at the forthcoming 2016/2017 Confederation of African Football (CAF) League about 32 years of trophy drought.

Chime, however, told NAN on Saturday in Enugu that the club’s Head of Finance, Osmond Ugwu, confirmed the full payment of the governor’s financial incentive to the players and officials.

According to him, the money was paid into the various accounts of the players and officials on Dec. 29 and Dec. 30.

On the plots of land announced by Gov. Ugwuanyi for each player, Chime said the club’s management had confirmed that necessary documentation for the release of the plots was at advanced stage.

“In no distant time, the beneficiaries –- players — will get the necessary documents and know the exact location of the land allotted to them,’’ he said.

Chime added that Rangers Board Steering Committee, headed by Acting Chairman, Steve Oruruo, had concluded negotiations with both old and new players in the club including Etim Mathew, whose contract run till 2019. (NAN)
