Imam Yusuf Abdullahi of Uthman Bn Affan Mosque,Tanke Ilorin, on Wednesday admonished Muslims to extend goodness to other religious adherents and shun acts of oppression.

Abdullahi, who gave the advice in Ilorin in his Ramadan Tafsir (preaching), said that it was against the Islamic tenets to oppress anyone.
He reminded the faithful that oppression of any form was totally prohibited, adding that Allah had sent Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) as mercy to the world.
Abdullahi said that it was the coming of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that that stopped female infanticide among the Arabs.
He said that it was expected of Muslims to always show goodness to people and animals, adding that it is wrong for anyone to oppress people or animals.
The cleric decried current forms of oppression in the society, stressing that Islam had always encouraged peace and security in communities.
“Allah has promised painful punishment for anybody who oppresses or kills another person,” he said.
Abdullahi warned those who engaged in oppressing others to desist because it would be difficult for the perpetrators to withstand Allah’s punishment.
He therefore urged both Muslim and Christian religious clerics to intensify sermons on promoting peaceful coexistent among their adherents so as to foster peace and security in the country.
