Queen Elizabeth Set to Abdicate Throne And Let Prince Charles Rule- Report

2 Min Read

The King and Queen of England generally serve in these capacities till the day they die and it is unusual for the practise to change

However, it is entirely possible that the current Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth, could walk away from Royal responsibility and have son Charles, 70, serve as regent.

In a new book by veteran royal correspondent Robert Jobson, it has been speculated that the aged Queen could step aside by the age of 95 and let Charles rule.

The top English citizen had earlier stated when she was coronated in 1951, that she would serve till the day she died. but had also earlier this year appointed Charles as the Queen’s successor as the head of the Commonwealth.

“It is my sincere wish that the Commonwealth will continue to offer stability and continuity to future generations, and will decide that one day the Prince of Wales should carry on the important work started by my father in 1949.” said the Queen in her speech earlier this year.

Abdications are a rare thing with the Queen’s uncle, Edward VIII, the last to do it and it was a scandal that rocked the royal family for decades.

Royal commentator Richard Fitziwilliams spoke out on the rumours of the Queen stepping down for Charles and said that the abdication of the past still haunts the Royal Family and therefore, the Queen is committed to her duties till the end.

He noted that while Charles had prepared his whole life for the role of King, the Queen would prefer if it happened naturally.
