PSG Claim Title In Style, Destroy Monaco 7-1

Paris Saint Germain were in glorious form demolishing last season’s champions Monaco 7-1 in an outstanding performance to confirm their 4th Ligue 1 title in 5 years.

The two teams have been rivals with Monaco upsetting the norm with their win last year due mainly to young stars like Kylian Mbappe and Thomas Lemar, but with Mbappe bought off them and Neymar also joining their ranks, PSG were not to be denied and they romped to a startling victory over their rivals.

A blistering six-minute spell in which PSG scored 3 times in the first half put the Paris club in charge of proceedings. Goals through Giovani Lo Celso, Edinson Cavani and Angel Di Maria, before former got his second of the day and the team’s 100th this season just before the half-hour mark.

Rony Lopes scored the lone goal for Monaco, but that didn’t do anything to stem the tide as Leonardo Jardim had a night to forget.

The win, emphatic as it has been is also expected to not be enough to keep Unai Emery in a job as the coach has failed in the one competition PSG really care about; the Champions League.

The Basque coach’s contract is expiring in the summer and from all indications, it will not be renewed.
