Protesters Led By Charlie Boy Shut Down National Assembly

Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, popularly known as Charlie Boy, led a group of protesters called #Occupyunlimited and #Bethechange organisation, to protest at the National Assembly against looters of the National Treasury in the Legislative.

The protesters, who numbered about 300, stood for over five hours which led to the shutting down of the National Assembly as no cars, vehicles or persons were allowed entrance into the premises.

Some other persons who joined the protest are Retson Tedheke, and Lagos-based socialite activist, Agatha Benson.

They demanded for the removal of the immunity clause from the constitution to enable the President and Governors answer to any misappropriation of funds during their tenure.

Inscriptions on the placards carried by some of the protesters read, “We need real CBN Agric investment,” “State/LGs joint account is under-developing LGAs nationwide,” “Legislators are not contractors,” “Budget and constituency projects fraud must stop immediately” and “Make N’Assembly budget public now.”

Charlie Boy had recently said he would stand up for the masses to fight against the gross misappropriaion and looting of funds meant for the welfare of Nigerian citizens.
