A group of protesters trooped to the National Assembly on Tuesday to protest drastic change in the makeup of the National Assembly.
The protesters were specifically asking for the resignation of the Senate President Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.
The crowd was particularly incensed by the allegations of budget padding by the National Assembly and they were out in full force with placards, which accused the Senators and Reps of “budget padding” and ‘illegal insertions” in the 2018 budget.
The protesters also alleged that the representatives and Senators were stealing funds meant for constituency projects in their various senatorial districts and constituencies.
This comes in the wake of Senate President Bukola Saraki asking for incompetent security chiefs to step down over their inability to protect the nation in light of the various killings going on in the country courtesy of Herdsmen and Boko Haram.
Saraki had also claimed that the Senate had warned of this sort of issue, but due to the stubbornness of security agencies, such a sad fate had befallen the Nigerian populace.
