A group, Ndi-Igbo Cultural Society of Nigeria (NCSN) has distanced itself from protesters demanding for a state of Biafra while urging President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently convoke a National Mandate Committee (NMC) to interact with all sections of the country
The President of NCSN, Chief Udoka Udeogaranya, speaking in Lagos, yesterday at the 2015 Nnamdi Azikwe Day and 111th birthday anniversary of the late President also urged pro-Biafra protesters and all other civil right groups across the nation to give peace a chance and channel their grievances in a civilised way.
“President Muhammadu Buhari must as a matter of urgency convoke a National Mandate Committee (NMC) with term of reference that would include but not limited to mandate to interact with all sections of the country, where their loyalty is suspected to be in doubt and to uncover their reasons and also to make recommendations towards a healing process.
“The National Assembly must begin to commence legislative processes that would restructure Nigeria and wake states of the Federation up to their economic obligations and put in motion, the process that would proscribe and re-assign territorial status,” he advised.
He also implored the National Assembly to commence legislative processes that would restructure Nigeria and wake up states to their economic obligations.
Udeogaranya also advised President Buhari to ensure that 2016 census is conducted with state of the art technology that would ensure that finger prints, eye iris, gender, religion, hometown, state of origin and all identifying information are well captured in a way that would rid fraud and falsehood from the exercise and give Nigerians an accurate demography.
