Press Freedom Day: Brigade Commander Commends Journalists

2 Min Read

Brig.-Gen Stephen Olabanji, the Brigade Commander, 2 Brigade, Port Harcourt, on Tuesday commended Journalists for assisting the formation in discharging its duties.

Olabanji, represented by Capt. Eli Lazarus, Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, gave the commendation in a goodwill message to the Rivers Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at a ceremony to mark World Press Freedom Day in Port Harcourt

He said that the brigade enjoyed good working relationship with Journalists in the state.

“We will continue to synergize with the media because we cannot do it alone. We will always work with you,” he said.

The commander said that the public relations department of the army recently held a seminar in Port Harcourt with a view to promoting cordial relations with the people and the media.

“We realized that there was a gap in communication in what we do and how the people see us. The seminar assisted us to have closer interaction with the people, especially the media.

“We see the media as a good partner and we will continue to partner with you to ensure a crime-free environment.”

Olabanji also urged Journalists to use the occasion to build a better society. (NAN)
