Former US President, Bill Clinton has said that the American press treated Barack Obama, who was president from January 20, 2009 to January 20, 2017, differently from other presidents.

Clinton, who was president from 1993 to 2001, made this assertion on CBS’s “Sunday Morning”.

Specifically, the 71-year-old said the “political press” treated Obama better than other presidents before and after him because “they liked having the first African-American president.”

Clinton said, “Well, they did treat him differently than other Democrats and Republicans. That was the political press.”

He added, “You know, I don’t know. They liked him, and they liked having the first African-American president. And he was a good president, I think. I don’t agree with President Trump’s assessment of his service.”

Trump has regularly bashed Obama’s administration and its perceived achievements.

He described the Iran nuclear deal negotiated by Obama as  flawed, horrible, poorly negotiated and “defective at its core”.

He also pulled the US out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a massive trade deal Obama worked hard to get through.
