President Goodluck Jonathan Thursday was yesterday in a crucial meeting with the National Security Council (NSC) on the proliferation of terrorism arising from the belligerence of the dreaded Boko Haram Islamist sect where whether or not the group should be granted amnesty was discussed.
The President had met with the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) a day earlier and had promised to convene the crucial security meeting the next day
NEF chieftain, Prof. Ango Abdullahi, had told State House correspondents at the close of the group’s meeting with the president that he (Jonathan) is contemplating options open to him, stressing that: “Im sure something substantial will come out of that meeting.”
However, the NSC meeting ended on Thursday without any statement or briefing by the service chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Muhammad Dikko Abubakar and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki.
