2 Min Read

US President Joe Biden is reportedly set to roll back pro-life policies the Donald Trump administration put in place.

Former White House Press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany disclosed this information via Twitter. She wrote: “At yesterday’s White House Press Briefing, when asked about Biden’s abortion policy, we were reminded: ‘he is a devout Catholic & somebody who attends church regularly.’

“Today, we learn Biden is reportedly preparing to roll back Trump’s pro-life policy ⬇️”

The Protect Life Rule prevents organizations which perform abortions from receiving Title X family planning funds. It effectively stripped Planned Parenthood of approximately $60 million annually in federal funding.

The Title X program, which was established 50 years ago, helps fill in gaps in health care access and affordability by providing family planning assistance to clinics serving low-income and uninsured people in the U.S.

Joe Biden is the second Roman Catholic president and his position on abortion has evolved throughout his career. Most recently, in 2019, he dropped his long-standing support of the Hyde Amendment, an old policy which restricted federal funding for abortions, after facing a lot of criticism.

“We have a ton of work to do to undo the harm over the last four years, but knowing we have champions there who understand what needs to happen in the first 100 days is tremendously exciting,” said Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood.
