Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari is allegedly ill with an ear infection.
The ear infection, known as Meniere Disease, causes vertigo, ringing in the ears, fluctuating hearing loss and occasional imbalance.
Buhari is currently being treated by his personal physician and other experts from the State House Clinic, PREMIUM TIMES reports.
Reports of the alleged ear infection first surfaced two weeks ago when the President was billed to visit Lagos.
It can be recalled that the President has cancelled proposed trips to Lagos, Papua New Guinea and Ogoniland in recent weeks.
A statement issued by Laolu Akande, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the vice president, said Vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, will once again represent the President at the 48th Ordinary Summit of Head of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) holding this weekend in Dakar, Senegal.
Last month, opposition party, PDP, claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari was “critically ill”, but the party failed to provide substantial proof.
