President Muhammadu Buhari has issued a stern warning to political appointees in his government to stop disrespecting lawmakers in the National Assembly.
The warning comes in the aftermath of the management st aff of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) walking out on lawmakers during an investigative hearing on Thursday.

The President further aknowledged the role of the lawmakers during a meeting with the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan and the Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila on Thursday.
According to a statement issued by Presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu after the meeting, President Buhari said he has the utmost respect for members of the National Assembly.
“Any disrespect to the institution by any member of the executive branch will not be accepted,” the statement continued.
“Ministers and all heads of Departments and Agencies should at all times conduct themselves in ways that will not undermine the National Assembly as an institution, its leadership and members.”
“The President and the leaders of the National Assembly recognized and acknowledged that the Executive and Legislative arms of government are essential partners in the fulfillment of their mutually aligned goal of improving the lives of the Nigerian people.”
