The Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has denied rumours circulating that 18 of the 21 released Chibok girls are with babies.
The Vice president while receiving the 21 freed girls in Abuja noted that only one of the released girls is with a baby.
He stressed: “She is the only one.”
The vice president further explained the role of Red Cross in the rescue of the 21 girls adding that the organisation was not a part of the release negotiation but facilitated the process of bringing the girls back.
He said: “The Swiss government worked with us in the process of negotiation, but the Red Cross was not involved in the negotiation.
“But in taking the girls back, of course, we worked with the Red Cross because we were unable to take our own medical team.
“The Red Cross was not involved at all in the process of negotiation. It was the Swiss government, our own officials: the DSS, intelligence and the military that were involved.”
