Ometere Aduga, a 300 level student of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma has committed suicide by hanging at her family apartment.
The deceased left no suicide note but is survived by one son and a husband-at-large.
The woman who was two months pregnant had visited a private hospital where she disclosed her suicidal tendencies and attributed it to the pregnancy.
Doctors reportedly counseled her and told her to report back for further examination.
The woman reportedly left her son with a neighbour under the pretense that she was going to bathe.
After she failed to return the neighbor went to investigate and discovered her lifeless body hanging from a ceiling fan.
“Ometere was a very brilliant girl, who was a 300-Level medical student at the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, but she was advised to withdraw due to health reasons.
“She had some mental disorder. She later recovered and got married but her husband is not from here and she has been staying with her parents.
“One cannot really say what could have led to her committing suicide; whether it was as a result of her pregnancy or a relapse of her mental illness,” a source told Punch.
