Sequel to the letter written by Omoyele Sowore’s laywer, Femi Falana SAN, Mr Abubakar Malami, Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, has said that it is not in his prerogative to order the released of Sowore from the custody of the Department of State Services.
FemiFalana had written the letter to the AGF, requesting him to release the convener of the #RevolitionNow Protest who was rearrested by the operatives of DSS.
The AGF stated his position in a statement released by his special assistant on Media and Public Relations, Dr Umar Gwandu.
According to the statement, the AGF said he could not make unilateral decisions on the release of Sowore without recourse to the court hearing the case charged against him.

Malami said;
“When parties submit their issues for determination to a court of law, they lack exclusivity of decision over such issues without recourse to court.
“We remain guided by the established tradition and will not take unilateral decision without recourse to the rule of law.”
The same court, the Federal High Court in Abuja, where Sowore and Bakare were charged, has granted bail to the two defendant which were flaunted by DSS.
