Nigerian Afrobeat star Ruger, known for his hit song “Bounce,” has sparked conversation after admitting to owning two firearms in a recent interview.
While discussing the origin of his stage name with content creator Timi Agbaje, Ruger confirmed the name’s connection to the gun manufacturer. The interview took a surprising turn when Agbaje pressed further, asking if Ruger actually owned guns himself. Ruger simply replied, “Yeah, I do. I have two.”
This revelation comes amidst a nationwide temporary ban on issuing firearm licenses in Nigeria. Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, announced the freeze last year, citing efforts to control the circulation of unauthorized weapons.
Ruger did not disclose whether his firearms are registered under the previous licensing system.
