The senator representing Kaduna Central senatorial district in the National Assembly, Sen. Shehu Sani, has warned politicians and political parties against hiring foreign consultants ahead of the 2019 general elections.
He said such consultants could be used by foreign nations to spy on Nigeria.
Sani made this known via his verified Twitter handle on Friday, after the news of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hiring top US lobbyist Brian Billard for $90,000 per month went viral.
The senator said, “As the election draws nearer, its in our best national interest that Parties, candidates and politicians desist from hiring foreign consultants.
“Foreign political consultancy firms are mostly spying agencies. They help candidates but subvert the country’s dignity, pride and security.”
