VfL Wolfsburg star, Max Kruse is not a happy man right now.
The midfielder went poker gambling in a World Series of Poker event last October and while leaving for home on Sunday morning forgot the sum of £60,000 (N17 million) in the backseat of a cab.
He reportedly complained to the taxi service after realising his mistake, but the money could not be traced, German paper Frankfurter Allgemeine reported.
To add insult to injury, he was fined a further £20,000 (N5.7 million) by his club for being “reckless”, after the news broke.
The former Borussia Monchengladbach player has been capped 14 times for Germany, and despite switching to Wolfsburg only last year has become a team regular due to his consistency.
However, coach Klaus Allofs has warned Kruse to take a lesson from the incident and alter his behaviour or he will face even more severe sanctions.
